Memory verse: “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” John 1:29

Remember back in Daniel 8:11 That Daniel saw in vision the little horn (verse 9) would cast down the sanctuary verse 11, 13. We learned that the little horn was Rome (two phase’s, pagan and Papal) We will note the services performed in connection with The Sanctuary. The services done each day and the next lesson the service that was done once a year on the “Day of Atonement” but we will look at the sanctuary in the wilderness; which we have already had a lesson on.

1. As a review, why did God ask Moses and The Children of Israel to build a sanctuary? Exodus 25:8. “And let them make me a sanctuary; that _____ may ________ among them.”

2. How did God tell Moses to build a sanctuary or tabernacle? Exodus 25:40 “And look that thou make them after their __________, which was _________ _________ in the mount.” God has showed Moses how to make it when he was up in the mount with God.

3. Where was the pattern from, which God gave Moses? Hebrews 8:2 “A minister of the sanctuary, and of the _______ ____________, which the _________ _____________, and not man.” There is a sanctuary or tabernacle which The Lord built which is in heaven, which is the true sanctuary.

4. The sanctuary was built after the pattern of the ___________ ____________. Hebrews 8:5 “Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern showed to thee in the mount.”

5. David speaks of the sanctuary in heaven. Psalms 102:19 “For he hath looked down from the __________ of his __________; from __________ did the LORD behold the earth;” So David, saw The Lord in the sanctuary in heaven looking down on this earth.

6. John is beholding the golden candlesticks. Revelation 1:12, 13. “And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven ___________ __________; And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.” He sees the son of man in the midst of the candlesticks. Also read Revelation 4:5; and 11:19.

7. In Hebrews 9:2 it tells us something about the sanctuary. What articles of furniture do we find here in the first apartment? Hebrews 9:2 “For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the ____________, and the _________, and the ____________; which is called the sanctuary.”

8. In the second apartment or the Most Holy Place we find the ark was there. What was in the ark? Hebrews 9:3-5. “And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all; Which had the ________ _________, and ________ ________ of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the _________ _________ that had manna, and ____________ _______ that budded, and the __________ of the __________; And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly.” The sanctuary had three areas: The courtyard which the alter of burnt offering and the laver and the next was found in, The Holy Place, which was found 1.Table of Shewbread, found on the right side of the sanctuary. 2.The candlestick on the left side of the room and 3.The alter of incense, in front of the curtain at the far end of the room. In these two areas was the service performed each day. Each ritual and ceremonies had special meaning. The Most Holy Place was entered by the High Priest only once a year, on the Day of Atonement, which is the next lesson.

9. What took place when the sanctuary was finished? Exodus 40:33, 34. (last part) “And he reared up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the hanging of the court gate. So Moses ________ the ________. Then a _______ __________ the ________ of the congregation, and the glory of the _________ __________ the ____________.” God had said build me a sanctuary (Exodus 25:8) that I may dwell among you. So God did come down and dwell with them, His presence was in The Most Holy Place. The camp as laid out in such a way that the sanctuary was in the center of the camp.

10. Each day there were two lambs offered (read Numbers 28:3). What time of day where they offered Numbers 28:4. “The ________ _________ shalt thou offer in the __________, and the _________ _________ shalt thou offer at ____________;” This was done in the morning one lamb was offered and in the evening the other lamb. This represents our morning and evening worship to God. When we come to God and ask forgiveness of our sins. This was the daily sacrifice for the whole camp.

11. Back in the days of the sanctuary on earth, if a person sinned what did he do to get forgiveness? Leviticus 4:32. “And if he __________ a ________ for a sin offering, he shall bring it a female ________ __________.” The lamb without blemish, Represented Christ The Lamb of God, slain for our sins. Verse 33 “And he shall _________ his ___________ _________ the __________ of the sin offering, and ____________ it for a ________ ___________ in the place where they kill the burnt offering.” The alter of burnt offering was in the outer courtyard of the sanctuary. He had to confess his sins upon the head of the lamb; he had to kill the lamb with his own hand.

12. What did the priest do with the blood? Leviticus 4:34 “And the _________ shall take of the _________ of the ________ _______ with his ___________, and put it upon the ________ of the _______ of ________ ___________, and shall ________ ________ all the blood thereof at the _________ of the ___________:” Verse 35 “And he shall ________ ______ ________ the ________ thereof, as the fat of the lamb is taken away from the sacrifice of the peace offerings; and the priest shall _________ them upon the altar, according to the offerings made by _________ unto the __________: and the ___________ shall make an ___________ for his _________ that he hath committed, and it shall be forgiven him.” Some of the blood was also taken in The Holy Place and (4:6) priest would dip his fingers in the blood and sprinkle; the blood seven times before the veil. The veil or the curtain was what separated “The Holy Place from “The Most Holy Place.” This was to remove the sin from the sinner or lift the burden of sin from the sinner to the lamb and then into The Sanctuary. It stayed there until the day of Atonement. When it was removed from the sanctuary and placed on The Scapegoat.

13. What is necessary for the forgiveness of sin, back in the days of Moses? Leviticus 17:11 “For the life of the flesh is in the ________: and I have given it to you upon the altar to _______ an ______ for your ________: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.” What about today? Hebrews 9:22 “And almost all things are by the law ________ with _________; and without _________ of ___________ is no remission.”

14 Today we don‘t have to kill a lamb and offer him for the forgiveness of our sins. Why? Hebrews 9:28 “So _________ was once offered to _________ the __________ of __________; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.”

15. Whose blood paid for my sins? 1 John 1:7. “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the __________ of _________ ________ his Son ___________ ______ from all sin.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 “For he hath made him to be _________ for _______, who _________ no sin; that we might be __________ the _____________ of God in him.” Every lamb that was offered as a sacrifice for sin, from Adam until Christ death, all represented Christ the promised messiah. He was the perfect lamb slain for our sins. Read 1 Peter 2:21, 22. Back in Ezekiel 18:4 the Lord said to Ezekiel, “The soul that sinneth, it shall die.” We know all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. But right after Adam and Eve sinned, God gave a promise of a plan, where by man could be saved. Jesus would come and pay the price for us. He showed Adam and Eve how to sacrifice a lamb, that represented Christ. he would come to earth to die in order to save us.

16. What was put on Christ? Read about Christ in Isaiah 53:1-8; Isaiah 53:6 “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the __________ of _______ _______.” He was sacrificed for my sins, that I might be saved.

17. He was The Lamb of God, what was made possible through his death? John 1:29 “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which _______ __________ the _________ of the ________.”

18. What happened in the sanctuary at Jerusalem, when Jesus died? Mark 15:37, 38 “And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost. And the ________ of the ________ was _________ in twain from the _________ to the ___________. And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.” All that we have studied about the sanctuary pointed to Christ, The Lamb of God and his work in the plan of our salvation there will be more on this in the next lesson on how each thing in the sanctuary pointed to Christ. When he died all these things that pointed to his coming was now fulfilled. There was no longer any need for the symbols. He had come and fulfilled all the prophecies. A few more days and he would go back to heaven and there enter The Holy Place in the sanctuary to plead his blood in our behalf for our sins, that we confessed to him.

John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me. John 1:29, 30
